Annual Water Festival for 4th Grade Classes

The purpose of the annual Water Festival is to help youth in the region understand the vital importance of water resources to our region’s future. Topics addressed include water chemistry, watersheds, water quality, ground water, physical properties, history, water ecosystems, water conservation and erosion. 4
th grade students and teachers attend a 2-hour morning or afternoon session. Each session consists of four in-depth water presentations. Teachers receive a resource packet to take back to their classroom.

- There are no registration fees. The festival is sponsored by the North Dakota Department of Water Resources and local businesses.

The Water Festival is an annual educational event the Dakota Science Center provides to Grand Forks and its surrounding communities. This event offers hands-on opportunities for children and adults to learn about the importance of water. Topics addressed include water chemistry, watershed, water quality, ground water, water cycle, physical properties, weather, history, water ecosystems, water conservation, and erosion. Water resources are of vital importance to our region's future and the future of our children.
Fourth-grade students and their teachers attend a 2-hour morning or afternoon session. Each session consists of four in-depth water presentations. Teachers receive a resource packet to take back to their classroom.
Project Wet, a national foundation that promotes water education, has recognized the Water Festival as a Project Wet site. This means that the Water Festival meets the requirements set out by the Project Wet guidelines.
